Boris Bidjan Saberi Spring Summer 2016 Runway
Boris Bidjan Saberi continued in his signature aesthetic of utilitarian street wear for the SS16 runway collection. The standout for this season was the brilliant blue that Saberi introduced for the season. It was reminiscent of the distinct hue made famous by Yves Klein. Saberi also turned things inside out with by showing some of the garments worn with their linings on the outside. This showcases the extreme attention to detail that goes the inner construction of each piece that Saberi designs. With leather being a BBS strength, the material showed up in jackets, shirts, and even jumpsuits for SS16, the most interesting for the season being yak leather. The matted down hair and a plastic appliqué on the models faces added extra texture to the runway looks and gave the effect that each boy had been lightly shellacked. The look was not unlike how you might appear after trying to navigate the Paris streets during this summer’s heat wave. Saberi continues to give us a consistent vision from season to season but brings freshness for SS16 with the brilliant blue and shades of gray he introduced in addition to the concept that some of his garments may also be worn inside out.
